Learning outcome

After completing this course the students should know the formal construction and use of markup languages (XML) and supporting technologies, and in addition know how XML can simplify document and data management inside a company and on the Internet (using for example Web services).

Content

Execution of relevant projects and assignments in all central topics.

Central topics:

  • Structured information using XML - XML as a flexible markup language.
  • XPath as a central component of most XML applications.
  • Document control using XML technologies as DTD and XML Schema.
  • Document conversion using XML technologies as XSLT and XQuery.
